R&B SINGERS OUT & ABOUT…..

Jennifer Hudson paid a visit to 106 & Park earlier this week in NYC, where she did further promo for her new album which was released this week. It appeared that Jen was doing everything she could to show off her blingin’ engagement ring:

After the last set of hideous pictures, I have to say Jen scrubs up pretty well. But um, never allow somebody to see your wig lining. It’s never a good look when you can see the real hair tucked underneath. Other than that, she looked good. Then again, she did put in an appearance on TV. She was seen making her departure from the 106 studio’s and seems all smitten at her engagement: “It was a big deal… I got a beautiful ring and I got him. I had no clue at all… We went to the beach during the day and he blindfolded me… and he gave me a purple shovel, because purple’s my favorite color… and I had to dig. I ended up digging through all this sand. When I found it, it was like a bunch of beautiful cards… one related to the other, and the last one said, ‘Look around, take the moment in, turn around and I have a gift for you”. SOURCE. That purple shovel will surely come in handy when she’ll need to do further digging of her own one day. Things just seem to be happening waaay too fast. And no one is questioning why her relationship with regular ole boy came to an end considering that he was there before the fame and all. But date a suspect negro for less than a year and you’re ready to commit. Something’s not quite right there but congrats once again.

Keyshia Cole performed a gig at the Heineken Red Star Soul event this week, and looking really good in the process:

So when are we going to hear this new single? I’ve read countless times that Keyshia’s album is set for a late 2008 release but we’re in October now and Christmas is 11 weeks away. Wow, did I just say 11 weeks? I think I just did. Anyway, on the forthcomig project, Keyshia has worked with Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins, as well as songwriter Sean Garrett on the new album. In a recent interview, Keyshia says her new album will be more uplifting than the heartbreak music we’re use to hearing.

Mary J. Blige and Musiq Soulchild were seen shooting their brand new video ‘If You Leave’ in New York:

I love that song and I’m glad it’s getting the single treatment. The track is featured on Musiq’s forthcoming album ‘On My Radio’ which is set to drop on November 25th.

Yesterday, Solange Knowles was spotted in Paris enjoying the nightlife. She has been in the city of Fashion and Romance to participate in the festivities surrounding Paris Fashion Week’ 08:

Seems she’s over the fact that her latest album ‘Solange & The Hadley Street Dreams’ isn’t doing so well chart-wise. After being released 5 weeks ago, she’s strugging to even hit the 100k mark. Being Beyonce‘s lil sis was never going to be easy….

Usher’s latest album ‘Here I Stand’ may not have been the business but he certainly brought on the sexual swagger that made him who he is today in that new video of his. Only a video as good as ‘Trading Places’ can make you wanna have sex straight afterwards, lol.

Yesterday, Bad Boy artists Day 26 hit up the BBC Radio 1 studio’s in London:

It seems they’re trying to launch themselves over here. I’m not quite sure if they’ll be a success in the UK. I can’t even remember the last time we had a young black male R&B group dominate the chart. Not since Damage anyway. But I’d like to see them achieve over-the-pond success because they’re really talented….

The wackness which is BET’s ‘106 & Park’ celebrated their 2000th episode on Tuesday in NYC. Keyshia Cole was spotted at the special taping which saw an array of artists show up for the celebration. Jennifer Hudson also performed latest single ‘Spotlight’:

It’s puzzling why Jen stays promoting a song that’s not currently recieving any momentum. I smell a November pushback. They should try and put out another single whilst they have the time. Spotlight is a nice song but I instantly knew it didn’t have the right essence for radio to be all over it.

Danity Kane were spotted at the MTV studio’s after a taping at TRL:

Dawn was spotted rocking the same Herve Leger dress Rihanna rocked a couple of weeks ago. Her and D. Woods were spotted leaving the studio in different outfits. D. Woods was dressed up like a Granny with the crinkled black dress and weird yellow trainers combo. No maam. Not feeling that get-up at all.

Dawn also attended the ‘Making the Band 4’ premiere party at Guest House on Tuesday in New York City. The new season started this week. Others that attended included a couple of members of Day 26 and Teyana ‘a sight for sore eyes’ Taylor:

What is going on with Teyana’s album? Not that I care much, but it’s been eons since she put out ‘Google Me’, and a second single isn’t out. She is starting to become a drifter. So much for being the new Kelis.

Tyrese was spotted leaving MTV studios in Times Square, New York City Tuesday after an appearance on TRL:

….whilst Jordin Sparks was spotted leaving ABC studios in New York City after an appearance on ‘Good Morning America’. Ne-yo was also spotted hanging out in Los Angeles on Tuesday night.

The Cheetah Girls were spotted signing copies of their new CD ‘One World’ for their newest Disney channel movie ‘Cheetah Girls: One World’:

Not mad at them at all for milking that Disney hustle.

Dawn’s kinfolk was there too – her mama and daddy, and all I gotta say is WOW! Dawn look a lot like her dad:

It would certainly explain where those skroooong features come from.

Two trailers for forthcoming reality shows can be watched inside this post. The first one is for Monica‘s reality show ‘The Single’, which sees Monica in the studio recording the new material:

Um yeah, so this has been like a Monica haven as of late but at least ya’ll can’t complain about Rihanna dominating the blog now that a more talented singer is getting some shine. Some people can’t be pleased no matter what. That said, although I love Monica I haven’t been feeling her since ‘The Boy Is Mine’ (classic album I must add). Monica’s show is set to premiere on Peachtree TV on August 5th. Look out for it.

Not sure if it’s me but Diddy is dragging this on a bit. I’m kind of over this unless they add Cassie in the mix, I can’t say I’ll be getting my online fix to this at all. But for those who care, the show will premiere on August 13th on MTV.

DAY 26: ‘SINCE YOU’VE BEEN GONE’ [VIDEO PREMIERE]….

Day 26, (who have been lucky enough not to wait too long) premiered their brand new video for their latest single ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’. The song is the second single taken from their self-titled debut album:

The video is so-so but ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’ is one of the strongest tracks from an album that was pretty underwhelming. The video was also directed by Erik White. Peep the cameo by Danity Kane singer Dawn who is also dating Que. Those two have been together a hot minute now.

Rihanna and Chris Brown continued to publicly display their relationship by going shopping for food grocery in West Hollywood yesterday afternoon:

More food for the many hotels they like shacking up in, whether it’s New York OR Los Angeles. They’re still cute. I hope they last a loooong time.

Yeah, I know her song ‘HELLO HEARTBREAK’ leaked in full this week, but Matthew Knowles has been gagging YouTube and blog sites yet again so I didn’t bother go there. I posted a 2 minute snippet a couple of months ago anyway so I wasn’t that pressed to hear the full song. I do want to hear what the rest of the album sounds like though.

She’s still a pretty heffa and looked fierce. She is also being forced to testify in the infamous night club shooting case against Diddy, when they both dated each other back then. There’s always some kind of baggage going on when you date a rapper (if you can even call him that).

Over the weekend, Teairra Mari hosted Jean Addicts Pre-BET Launch which took place in Los Angeles, CA:

Chick has been gone since forever but yet BET still found the former Princess of The ROC relevant enough to let her host one of their pre-Bet Awards parties. I’m impressed, especially since she has yet to officially launch herself.

Former TLC singer Rozanda ‘Chilli’ Thomas attended the Female Success Factor “Creative Success” Seminar which took place at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York City, NY:

Janet Jackson attended the L’Uomo Vogue Party in Milan, Italy yesterday:

Her fella Jermaine Dupri was right by her side but jetted back to the U.S. to host his pre-BET Awards party tonight in Los Angeles.

Spice Girl Melanie Brown (Booby Spice) is the new spokeswoman for Ultimo Lingerie and she was in London at Debenhams to promote it. Here’s a couple of pics:

Mel B is also on course to become the new X Factor judge. She is currently in negotiation and has beat off stiff competition from two other British singers – Charlotte Church and Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole. It was officially announced this week that Sharon Osbourne has quit The X Factor. Sharon will not be returning to the show that launched Leona Lewis into the International superstar that she is today. Sharon absolutely hates the new judge Danni Minogue because she sees Danni as a threat and believes Danni only got the job because of her looks and not because of her contribution towards the music industry. It’s also believed that Sharon’s departure could all be down to the two judges not getting along as well.

According to the Daily Mirror, the song is called ‘Undercover‘ and here’s a preview of the lyrics: “You’re a deadbeat cheat, so undercover. Living a Hollywood Lie as Mr Lover Lover. Go ‘head leading your double life, phoney faker undercover.” Wow. But not surpising. Mel has been down this route before. Nope. This is not the first time Mel has taken shots at another baby daddy of hers. In a vicious attack towards her ex-hubby Jimmy Gulzar (father of her 9-year-old daughter Phoenix Chi) she criticizes him on her previous top 5 single ‘Tell Me’: “Now I see you didn’t have no self esteem. And all you loved was Mel B’s money”. Mel’s album due out this autumn, also features a new duet with Baby Spice Emma Bunton and reportedly, Janet Jackson.

Every time we see her, she’s either eating out at a restaurant or leaving a nightclub. I’m amazed, paps trail her around considering that she hasn’t been doing much lately.

Due to exhaustion, Mary J. Blige has decided to postpone her New Zealand/Australia tour until November. She says: “Postponing these shows has been an extremely difficult decision for me and I am sincerely sorry that I will not be able to fulfill my tour commitments, but I assure you that the November shows will be well worth the wait”.

Faith Evans attended the Coca-Cola celebration of the Essence event this week:

The singer also performed. Good to see Faith doing what she does best. Look forward to her new album, if we ever see it.
