The man so easy to dislike whose music is too good to ignore is seeking a comeback next year. Justin Timberlake has been in the recording studio prepping a new album and a brand new song has surfaced called ‘Steppin’ Out Tonight’:
The infectious club banger is hot dare I say. As much of a loser that he can be at times, he stays bringing the heat musically. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t anticipated his next project. I feel whip-lashed right about now….
Rihanna‘s new album doesn’t drop until early next year but that doesn’t mean we have to wait until then to hear new music from Lil Miss Sunshine. A brand new ‘unofficial’ track from the Bajan beauty hit the Internets yesterday. The song is called ‘Sexuality’ and it samples Prince‘s 1981 hit, ‘Controversy’. Check it out below:
It sounds okay but she can do a lot better than this, and doesn’t quite generate much buzz for her musical return. I totally approve of Rihanna going the Prince direction because it crosses the pop/rock market which she has currently been riding to lately. It is also more fitting since that type of sound doesn’t require her to incorporate any sort of vocal prowess (I think she can sing but can easily admit that vocally she has limitations). I can’t ever see her going back to R&B because the new direction is what’s hitting it big for her right now. And why fix it if it aint broke?
I really can’t keep up with all these video premieres this week. I mean, hasn’t this week been CRAZY? Anyway, another vid to premiere last night was the Pussycat Dolls‘ ‘I Hate This Part’, which you can watch below:
The scenery was beautiful, and at least they were on actual location which was good. But it didn’t look like a Pussycat Dolls video. It looked like a Nicole video. The other girls looked like back-ups and nothing more. Nicole got at least 90% of the airtime, which was not surprising at all. Besides, didn’t they just premiere a video?
Britney Spears sealed her comeback last night when she officially premiered her brand new music video for ‘Womanizer’. After watching it, I have to say that the video was really impressive in terms of content. Check out the UNCENSORED version of the video below:
It definetely reminded me of ‘Toxic’, in terms of cinematography, graphics and the different identities used. It seems Britney had a lot of fun with the costumes, and torturing that poor fella. Overall, it was a fun video as well and takes a similar approach to Janet Jackson‘s ‘Son of a Gun’. Now this is the type of video that should have won her a VMA, not that ‘Piece of Me’ crap (well it wasn’t that bad but yes, crap in comparison to her other video’s). Maybe she’ll win one next year for this, who knows. Britney will release her new album ‘Circus’ on Dec 2nd and is slated to do a number of performances and interviews to promote the project.

In other news, Beyonce’s new song ‘If I Were A Boy’ has missed the Grammy deadline by 8 days. She’d have been up for Best Song and Record and would have faced stiff competition from Alicia‘s ‘Superwoman’. Reportedly, If I Were A Boy is now being touted as the best song of her career. *crickets*
Mariah Carey and her toyboy hubby Nick Cannon were spotted on the set of her new music video for ‘I Stay in Love’. The couple have spent the weekend as well as this week shooting the video where they’ve been chilling out in the very sinful Las Vegas:
Nick celebrated his 28th birthday this week with Mariah at The Bank Nightclub of The Bellagio Hotel, and some parts of the video was shot near there as well. Nick is also directing the video but judging by Mariah’s Forever-21 clothes, it looks like it’s going to be a typical Mariah vid. She better not tarnish my song! One more after the cut.

“What the hell was I thinking?” asks Britney Spears in a brand new 90-minute special. She is only questioning the erratic behaviour that many of us has done since her mental breakdown. In a one-off documenatry called ‘Britney: For The Record’, the 26-year-old pop starlet talks about her life over the past two years. The documentary was executive-produced by her manager Larry Rudolph and will air on Nov 30th courtesy of MTV. Here’s a sneak peek preview below:
Britney is hoping that the TV special will set the record straight about her life. During that time, she divorced the father of her two young sons, went through a custody battle and lost, went to rehab and had very public meltdowns. But the seriousness of Britney’s instability was hugely witnessed during her disastrous performance at last year’s MTV Video Music Awards. I remember watching that and my heart sank. Now on the comeback trail, Britney has won back her sanity and is releasing her sixth studio album, ‘Circus’, in the US on December 2nd, her 27th birthday. Her video ‘Womanizer’ will premiere tonight, and you know I’ll be posting the goods as soon as it airs on TV so stay tuned on that.
Solange Knowles was spotted in New York City this week shooting her new music video for ‘T.O.N.Y’. Urban News Network TV was on the scene and managed to provide us with some exclusive pictures of Beyonce visiting her sister on the set:
Beyonce greeted a group of overly excited children as she passed along the way. Teyana Taylor and Ceelo were also on the set to the shoot their parts. I am really glad that T.O.N.Y is finally getting the single treatment. The song is just really amazing to me and it’s one of my favourite songs from her latest album ‘Solange & The Hadley St. Dreams’.

According to ABC, Beyonce has been given the go ahead and has been cast to play singer/actress Eartha Kitt in an upcoming biopic about the singer’s life:

Singer and actress Beyonce Knowles recently received the greenlight to play legendary Eartha Kitt in a biopic of the singer’s life. Her sex-kitten nighclub act with that signature throaty performance helped Kitt rise to fame. She is perhaps best known for her role as Catwoman in the 1960s ‘Batman’ series. During her career, Kitt endured a 10-year blacklisting owing to her sharp criticism of the Vietnam War. Today, the 79-year-old singer is battling colon cancer. She told the New York Post, “I never expect anything to happen to me. “I’m the healthiest person in the world”. SOURCE.
Hmmmm…..I thought Alicia Keys was already given the go ahead to play Eartha Kitt. I actually reported Alicia landing the role last year. If anything, I recall Eartha saying she was honoured at Alicia being the one chosen to re-enact her life story. Sorry. I got it mixed up. Alicia was offered the role to play Lena Horne, not Eartha Kitt. Lena was the one who gladly welcomed Alicia as the frontrunner to bag the role. Anyway, as for Eartha, it’ll be interesting to see if Beyonce pulls this off but must she play ALL of the female black legends? Dreamgirls was losely based around Diana Ross and The Supremes, she just got done completing her role as Etta James in Cadillac Records and now she’ll be playing Eartha Kitt. Pretty daunting. I admire Beyonce the ARTIST but I never seem at all that entranced to run to the cinema to watch her movies. I just don’t think she can act. And I know I’m going to get a lot of flack for this but she did ‘okay’ in Dreamgirls considering that she didn’t have much lines or airtime anyway and was outdone by Jennifer Hudson.
