Rap-Up managed to get an interview with super R&B producer Rodney ‘DARKCHILD’ Jerkins on the red carpet at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party to discuss his latest projects. Check out the footage:
Darkchild says he’s worked on some midtempo stuff on the new Beyonce album and will now concentrate on the uptempo’s. He reveals that the CD should be out at the end of the year, also mentioning that Beyonce will be shooting her new movie in which she plays ‘Etta James’ (which I’ve reported on previously). He also revealed that he’s doing some work on the new Keyshia Cole album which will also drop at the end of the year. The Pussycat Dolls are also dropping a new album this year and he’s done some work on their new joint too. He also spoke about his contribution to the new Janet Jackson album ‘Discipline’ (he produced lead single Feedback which is currently stalling). The CD is expected to drop Feb 26th. I am surprised he didn’t mention his work towards the new Michelle Williams and Brandy album. But I suppose he’s working with so many folks now, the list is just endless. With Timbaland and Rodney Jerkins under the wing of the new Beyonce joint, this could be a great CD. Tim produced Get On The Bus for Destiny’s Child whilst Rodney produced the super smash Say My Name and both songs were hot. And since it’s Beyonce, you just know they’ll be giving her their best work.
