CHART NEWS: SALES PICK UP FOR JENNIFER HUDSON & ROBIN THICKE AS THE PUSSYCAT DOLLS FLOP…..

October 1, 2008

Despite a declining music economy, Robin Thicke and Jennifer Hudson have restored some faith in the record buying public. Hits Daily Double report that Jen is predicted to sell between 215-225k with her self-titled debut album whilst Robin Thicke is set to sell 150k with third studio album ‘Something Else’. Jen could even see a surge and sell even more when she appears on Oprah tomorrow…..

Check out the report:

Arista/RMG Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson’s self-titled debut is on target for between 215-225k right now, but an appearance on Oprah tomorrow (10/2), even though she won’t be performing, could jack those numbers even higher. At any rate, it’s a lock for #2 on the heels of her Top 5 R&B single, “Spotlight.”

Star Trak/Interscope blue-eyed soul man Robin Thicke will perform some chart “Magic,” with his new Something Else album looking like 150k, give or take, which would be good for #3 next week. SOURCE.

I would never have guessed both of them would have had such high debut numbers. Both of which are set to make the top 3 on the Album charts. This is definetely a breakthrough for Robin considering that his last album sold 20k in the first week but gradually went on to sale 1.5 million as a whole. Largely due to the hugely successful ‘Lost Without You’, his sophomore ‘The Evolution of Robin Thicke’ was very successful. This just proves that first week sales don’t really determine how the album will do gradually. It shows shows how much buzz and hype the album anticipated. Whilst Robin and Jen may celebrate their well-respected sales, the Pussycat Dolls will be miaowing at sophomore album ‘Doll Domination’ debuting at a dismal #5 for its first week of sales, moving just 74,000 units. Jazmine Sullivan debuted at #6 with ‘Fearless’ this week selling 66,000 copies which is okay for a newcoming artist but not really that good either.
